Climb the Ladder

He who climbs the ladder, must begin at the bottom’

I heard the quote while watching an anime named Haikyuu (my most fav anime btw).

A lot of people have told me that to achieve anything that you want, you must start small, or take it one day at a time, one step at a time. But none of that really resonated with me.

Meaning, it didn’t strike a chord in me. It just fell flat.

But this one quote hit me like a truck.🚚

And I understood the impact of what happens when words are arranged properly.

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always been impatient with what I wanted to have, or wanted to do.

If I wanted a remote controlled helicopter, I needed it that second!

If I wanted to go somewhere, I wanted to start that minute!

If I wrote an exam, I wanted the results that minute! (Yeah, I was weird like that)

That same impulse has grown up with me till now, and reflected on the way I do things.

I didn’t understand that to improve my drawing skills, I needed to deliberately practice and learn from other artists everyday.

To grow on YouTube and get people to subscribe to my channel, I needed to put out videos consistently and provide value (in any way or form).

To make people know and follow me for ME, not just an artist, but also as a person, I needed to show my personality with things I am interested in, my blogs, newsletters, IG stories, YouTube videos etc.,

And I was not doing a single one of these things properly, but complained about the fact that I was not improving or growing.

That’s when I started.

I made it a habit to draw everyday, took Inktober as a challenge (I finished it too)

I made it a habit to read and write everyday.

I made it a habit to share about the things I find interesting through daily stories, blogs and regular newsletters.

I made it a habit to regularly post on IG and YouTube (and a few other platforms)

And right now, I feel like I’m in a better place, because I know, that I’ve put in the effort to make a change. I’ve started somewhere, and I’m climbing the ladder, keeping one foot up every single day.

So, the conclusion,

If you’re climbing the ladder, ANY ladder, you must begin at the bottom.

And climb it every day, till you reach the top.🧗

Once you do, move on to the next one. (Damn that was nice, somebody quote ME!)

You’re awesome.

That’s it for this week.

Adios!

Kapil.
