Compare Yourself to Others

I've been thinking a bit about where I am at life right now.
Mentally, Physically, Financially and Socially.
I'm earning a decent livin' but I'm worried that I might become comfortable with it.
But, I compared my living to that of others recently. And man, it stings a bit. 🤕
It wasn't;
"How can they do better than me? They are so and so..."
Rather it was;
"What am I not doing!!!! 😫"
And I was saddened and relieved by the answer I came to.
'I chose a path that I know was difficult in a different way than the path others chose, so If I compare myself to them, I'm second guessing my own goals, which I shouldn't (assuming the goal is a good one).
You tend to compare yourself to those around you, those you come in touch with, and thanks to social media, those you don't even know really.
But ask yourself, what is YOUR goal? Is it the same as them? Or do you have other aspirations that are not within the "Traditional and Societal Standards"?
Whatever they are, comparison is honestly the thief of joy.
Saying all that, there are positives in comparing yourself to others if you know how to compare.
If someone is doing better than you are in a category that you are in, study and think, why?
What are they doing different and what can I do to become better?
It's a competition against your past self. If you stay the same, you're not gonna go anywhere (unless you're PERFECT, which I know no one is).
So,
Don't compare yourself, but if you do, know how to do it properly.
Phew, now that I've written my thoughts out here and talked to myself, I'm feeling a bit 'haaaaaaaaaaa....' 😌
Go on and have a good week tomorrow!
You got this :)
Tata,
Kapil.
