What are YOU Doing for 2024?

Yo.

It’s been a while. I know I’m a little late to the party, but Happy New Year to YOU specifically. 🥳

I hope it’s been going good for you so far.

I’m sure you would have some regrets from 2023 that you want to NOT HAVE by the end of 2024.

Because for me, 2023 has been nothing short of an absolute rollercoaster. I was at one of the worst spot in my life at the start - exactly on Jan 1st. But I promised myself that I wasn’t gonna sulk and brood over it.

So I woke up on Jan 1st, 2023 and went on a walk and posted the first video of the year on my YouTube channel. 🎥

I took up projects for every month that I ‘mostly’ kept up with (Personal and Career wise projects). I’m not gonna lie, I was struggling with what I wanted to do.

Here are some of the Projects I did:

🖌️ Procreate Brush Pack - for Sketching.

🍔 Good Food Aesthetic - A Restaurant website of my Fav restaurants in Chennai.

📕 Reminders - My Free E-Book.

✏️ My School Series - Illustrations.

When I look back at 2023 as a whole, it has been THE MOST eye opening and emotionally maturing year of my life. The amount of things that happened and that I had to go through was so interesting and nerve-wracking and I'm so grateful for it.

So I’m good now.

The slow pull of time eventually makes you strong enough to bear things which you weren’t able to before.

2024 is here (bro 2014 was 10 years ago!? dayum) and is looking to become another important life shaping year for us all.

I’m taking a few things that I’ve learned in 2023 when going about this year.

😤 Always have a Personal Project to work on.

One thing I noticed when I was doing my ‘Project 50’ was, time seemed to move slower. I think it was because I was constantly doing something without looking at what day of the challenge I was on. That feeling of time moving slower made me feel happy, it made me feel like I had time to do things.

So yes, have a personal project, always.

🗣️ Be Honest with how you feel about people.

You need to be honest even with yourself about how you feel about certain people in your life. It can be your friends, relatives or someone you went on a date with. Do you actually like spending time with them? are they making you better? Are you able to just chill with them?

This will in-turn help you be honest with them about your intentions as well. You can let them know if you wanna part ways, or let them know if they do something that you don’t like, or even how much you appreciate them being in your life.

So be clear with your intentions to people.

🧠 Energy flows where attention goes.

If you pay attention to good energy, you will be able to see more of it and vice versa. I’ve been in this sort of a ‘positive outlook’ on life no matter how bad things turn out to be.

Obviously if a family member or someone you love falls sick, you will feel the negative emotion, but even then, what use is negative thinking if it only makes you function badly?

You will always have something to be grateful for. NO MATTER WHAT or WHERE you are. So find it and appreciate it.

🏋️ Do the things you know are good for you (EVERYDAY)

It can be waking up early and getting some sun. It can be talking to someone close. It can be working out. It can be eating good. It can be working on a business idea you have. It can be spending some family time. It can be going to bed at the right time. It can be not using your phone for 9 hours a day.

Whatever it is, if you objectively know it’s good for you and you don’t do it, then you kinda deserve the consequences of not doing it. I learned this lesson constantly last year, and I’m working to improve it this year.

🌱 Buy plants, and take care of it. (I know. completely out of the box)

This is not a lesson I learned, but something that I like doing these days. I have a small plant in my room that I have to tend to everyday. It can be cleaning the pot, or watering it. Doing it as a ritual every morning makes me feel relaxed.

I take it outside in the morning to make it get some sun and I stand alongside it to get some sun myself. I’ve been appreciating the feeling of providing and taking care of something.

...

The truth is, they are not letting me get a dog in my house. But I'm loving this little plant tho.

Anyways, I don’t know what you’ve been through in 2023, but you’re alive.

So whatever happens, you got you (and me, if you need any help). Go out and do the things that you know you need to do and take care of them.

Each year you’re alive is a gold coin you get to spend. So think before you spend it on something that doesn’t give you anything back.

That’s it.

Once again, Happy New year.

You’re gonna have an amazing year.

I’ll see you soon.

Tata,

Kapil.
